About Me

Bio:

Whitney Wigginton (b. 2003, Austin, Texas) is a painter currently based in Savannah, Georgia, where she is pursuing a BFA in Painting at the Savannah College of Art and Design. Working primarily in oil on canvas and wood panel, her practice focuses on intimate figurative scenes, gesture, and the emotional presence carried through light, texture, and observation.

Alongside her studio practice, Wigginton has worked across several creative disciplines including costume design, metalsmithing, and freelance makeup artistry. Her work has appeared in public settings, including a commissioned mural at Higher Ground in Austin, Texas, and her creative practice has been featured in a televised interview with K-EYE Channel 42 News in Austin. She has also contributed makeup work for performance and film events, including projects connected to SXSW EDU’s Texas High School Student Shorts Program, and performance events such as Fools Roll, which received coverage in The Wall Street Journal.

Before focusing fully on painting, Wigginton spent many years riding and training horses, working across hunter jumper, polo cross, and western riding. This experience continues to inform her patience, observational sensitivity, and attentiveness to subtle shifts in movement and presence within her paintings.
